Psychotherapist and Counsellor in Bicester
Hello and a warm welcome to my website
We may all go through periods in our life when we experience emotional difficulties. This may be as a result of a significant change in life circumstances such as through bereavement, illness or relationship breakdown. It may be that you are feeling stuck in repeating patterns of behaviour or feeling overwhelmed in certain situations. Many of these struggles can come out in a variety of ways including feelings of anxiety, relationship difficulties, physical illness, low mood, problems at work etc.
Whatever you are going through and your reasons for seeking professional support, I appreciate that taking the first step can feel quite bewildering and daunting. I hope that I can offer on these pages some information to support and help you in this.
How will talking help?
You may be wondering or asking yourself if talking will really help. There is considerable and clear evidence that mental health can be improved through engaging in talking therapy. Working with an experienced, trained professional can provide a confidential space in which you can safely explore issues, outside of your usual support network, without worrying about personal agenda or judgement.
Whilst often we are unable to change difficult circumstances we may be experiencing and cannot change others around us, we can, through increasing our self-awareness, adapt and change how we respond thus being more able to make positive choices and build resilience.
Entering Therapy
The past few years have presented challenges that none of us could ever have anticipated, both in our working and personal lives. If like many people you are struggling to process life’s challenges, I offer a confidential and non-judgemental space to explore and work through these challenges together.
I offer sessions via video (Zoom) or face to face.
I am a UKCP accredited and qualified Psychotherapist, with over a decade of clinical experience offering both counselling and psychotherapy.
I offer both short-term and long-term therapy, depending on what is needed. As a therapist, I honour your uniqueness and fine-tune my work to meet your needs.
An Initial Consultation can usually be arranged within 2 weeks of first contact and is offered without any obligation to commit to further sessions.
A critical factor to therapy being effective is finding the support that feels right for you. Whether or not I am that person, I encourage anyone to seek support from practitioners registered with one of the main professional bodies such as UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy), BPC (British Psychoanalytic Council) or BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists). As there is no government standard of training, practice or regulation of professionals offering talking therapies, registration with a professional body provides you with an assurance of ethical practice.
